We're a husband-and-wife law firm in Buford, Georgia. Melissa is the attorney, and she writes every plan herself. Shawn answers your first call and handles everything else.

Why we do this
Our own family learned this the hard way.
Before we wrote a plan for anyone, we watched people we love leave a mess behind. Each time, it could have been avoided.
Shawn's great‑grandfather
He owned 300 acres that had been in the family for generations. He married again late in life and left the land to his new wife.
The family lost all of it.
Shawn's grandfather
He set up a trust to keep his family out of probate court. Then he forgot to update the beneficiary on one life insurance policy.
His wife had to go through probate anyway.
Shawn's grandmother
She didn't want to plan while she was well. Later, she developed dementia.
The family had to go to court just to care for her.
Shawn's great‑uncle
He put his daughter's homes into a trust before she married. Years later, she went through a divorce.
The homes were never at risk.
Same family. Different endings. The difference was a plan that was built right and finished.

Melissa is the only attorney at The Hive Law. There are no associates and no paralegals. She reviews your plan, and she writes every document in it herself.
Before we started the firm, she worked at law firms doing real estate and estate planning. Today, trusts and estate plans are all she does.
She's also the opposite of a stuffy lawyer. She laughs a lot, she talks like a normal person, and clients often ask her to lunch after a call.

Before the law firm
Shawn was a mechanical engineer. He designed robotic assembly lines and spent months at a time overseas installing them. He quit to be home for the kids we were about to have. He runs our firm the same way he built those machines: every step written down, and every step checked.

Life at home
Three kids, a few too many animals, and one very busy tractor.
We work from home, on a run‑down little farm we're slowly fixing up. It's where we raise our kids, and where Shawn films most of his videos.

Our sheep once got 3 miles down the road. A neighbor called the police, and Shawn chased them home with a police escort.
They still get out. We're working on the fence.
